Writing Sessions

Craig and I met up yesterday and managed to write a couple of songs and a couple of half songs. Dunno when we'll get time to record anythin i'm afraid. Depends when we get time to record and when I can get an audio interface for my laptop. So it could be a while... sorry. Just thought I'd give this thing an update.

The Suntan Bookshop Tour

So as some of you may know, Craig and I are forming a band called TShirt Suntan. This is just a quick wee note to say that over the next few weeks we will be attempting to write some songs with a view to playing at Borders in Glasgow. I haven't seen the flyer but they are apparently looking for local bands to play. We will keep you posted if anything further develops.

Post NYA

Finally getting round to posting some Youth Assembly feedback. First of all can I just say thanks to all the staff, both from CoSY Towers and the Apex Hotel, for a wonderful weekend. We shall miss Dundee (not as much as that Domino's will miss us) but according to The Good Doctor we are moving to Stirling for next year. Morning jog to the Castle anyone?

In my opinion this year's event was incredibly different from last year's. I don't know if there was a different attitude from all the delegates or if the presence of Mark Yaconelli just gave the place a different vibe, but i got a lot more out of it this year than I did my last. The Late Night Worship sessions, especially the quite worship with Callum and Craig was like nothing I have ever experienced before, and it is one of the most spiritual times of my life. Thank you to all who were in Dundee for sharing and adding to what was an amazing experience.

And one final word on Mark Yaconelli. I really didn't know what to expect from him and so I
turned up on Friday evening with an open(ish) mind and was completely blown away. His stories were inspirational and the fact that he could open up to us like he did meant that I, and I'm sure most of the other delegates, took an instant shine to him that I don't think will ever wear off. If speakers at future events are even half as passionate as Mark is, we ain't gonna go far wrong. The man is a legend in my eyes.

Perchance On The Morrow

This is a recording from after dinner on Saturday at about half eleven. It is Craig and I doing a cover of the Stereophonics' song Maybe Tomorrow. This is the first recorded performance of the band T-Shirt Suntan. We have a bassist already but are looking for a drummer so if there are any out there...

We will also be playing in the CoSY Coffee House in the Mezzanine at 1 this morning if anyone would like to come along. Mark Yaconelli has also agreed to make an appearance so hope to see as many people there as possible.

First Vid!!!

This is the first vid from this year's NYA. Hopefully many more to come but there is a LOT going on so maybe not as many TShirt Suntan vids as we'd like.

NYA 2008

Not quite sure how this is going to work but we'll see anyway. This is gonna be a blog for the Church of Scotland National Youth Assembly 2008 in Dundee. Myself and Craig Durning are both keen guitarists and will be playing unofficially (not part of the NYA programme) at various points throughout the weekend, an activity we have named T In The (Car)Park due to us playing outside last year while people waited for buses home. I intend to try and film a lot of this with my webcam but that may all go toes-up. Only time will tell.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

PS. I will also be doing random video blogs throughout the weekend if I can get the time and can be bothered.
